The ''Luncheon Special'' is a great way to enjoy Melbourne's favorite train - Puffing Billy!

The Puffing Billy Railway has been one of Melbourne's most famous and best loved attractions since it began operation in 1900. We also offer a range of 'First Class' travel and dining experiences for discerning passengers.

Step back in time as you board Puffing Billy's  ''Luncheon Special'' which departs daily from Belgrave all year round (except Christmas Day).

The' 'Luncheon Special'' offers a 'First Class' rail journey including soup of the day, and tea and coffee on your return journey plus a selection of dining options (some options must be pre-booked and pre-paid before the day of travel)

The three hour journey in our plush, fully enclosed 'Mount Lyell' carriages, beautifully restored to recapture the romance and charm of steam train travel in the early 1900's, will take you along the historic route through the magnificent Dandenong Ranges.

CHOOSE YOUR DINING EXPERIENCE

Select from the following options in the 'First Class' carriages on the ''Luncheon Special''

 (A Liquor service is available on board at reasonable prices, BYO not permitted).

Trio of Wraps $60.50*

A trio of gourmet wraps with succulent smoked salmon, roast chicken and ham all served with a green salad feta and olives.

 Trio of Vegetarian Wraps $60.50*

Vegetable wraps featuring sun-dried tomatoes with pesto, cream cheese and spinach and avocado and cheese.
Gourmet Antipasta Plate $70.50*

A generous plate of anti-pasta consisting of cold meats, fruits and cheeses.  All accompanies by dips and bread.  An additional seasonal fruit plate is also included.
Hills Deli Plate $60.50*

Succulent slices of ham, chicken and roast beef served with Desiree potato salad, Caesar and green salads.

 

 Vegetarian Plate $60.50*

Hummus, beetroot and carrot dips served with toasted flat bread accompanied by potato and green salads.  Brie, fruit and tasty cheese are complemented dolmades, olives, cocktail onions and semi sun-dried tomatoes.
Warm Quiche Lorraine and Devonshire Tea $60.50*

An individual bacon and spring onion quiche served with seasonal garden fresh salad, followed by two homemade scones served with strawberry jam and lashings of double cream.

 Warm Vegetarian Quiche and Devonshire Tea $60.50*

An individual capsicum, zucchini and spring onion quiche served with seasonal garden fresh salad, followed by two homemade scones served with strawberry jam and lashings of double cream.

Devonshire Tea $49.50*

 Children's Lunch Box $35.00

A sandwich of your choice with a piece of fresh fruit, cake, cheese and biscuits, box of sultanas and pop-top fruit drink.

You can also order a Devonshire tea with all meal options for an additional $6.00

* Bookings for concessions and children are less 10%

YOUR TRIP

You will be welcomed at Belgrave station and shown to your carriage where a delicious  soup will be served  to you as we depart.

Then sit back and unwind to the rhythm of the rails as you travel to your first stop at the historic Menzies Creek station, the half-way point on your journey. Our Train Hosts will highlight the special features along the line.

After a short break, your train will continue on to Lakeside in the peaceful setting at Emerald Lake Park. Here you may visit the kiosk, walking trails, or observe the locomotive being serviced before your return trip to Belgrave.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Times and meal options are subject to alteration without notice.

  • We do not have facilities to provide for or accommodate high chairs, pushers or wheelchairs and there are no bottle warming facilities.

  • There is no 'Single' (One-way) First Class journey available on the "Luncheon Special".

  • There is no group discount available. However, ask about our Speakers Panel for large groups for a special price.

  • All lunches must be pre-booked and pre-paid at least 24 hours prior by cheque or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Diners Club).

  • Liquor service is available on board at reasonable prices

  • Souvenirs are available for purchase on the train or in our souvenir shop at Belgrave.
