Puffing Billy Steam Museum
The Puffing Billy Steam Museum is located behind the
Menzies Creek station and houses a unique collection of narrow gauge
locomotives, rolling stock and steam machinery. Click

Picnic and barbecue facilities are available.
It opened in 1963 and soon had a growing collection of
locomotives and railway relics. Volunteers have restored many
exhibits and some have been returned to service.
The museum houses Australian and overseas locomotives
representing some of the world's most famous builders and spanning more
than 50 years.
Highlights of the collection

3' 6" gauge "Pozieres" was built by
Andrew Barclay Son & Co. in Scotland in 1918 for service on
military railways in France but with the end of the war found service
in Port Pirie, South Australia.

A rack ABT locomotive from the Mt. Lyell and Mining
Co. Ltd, ran on the unique rack railway between Queenstown and Strahan
in Tasmania.

On
Wednesday 19th November 2003, the ABT Loco was moved on low loader for
the start of its new home again back in Tasmania where it will be
restored to running order for the West Coast Wilderness Railway.

A geared Shay locomotive worked on the Ali-shan Forest
railway in Taiwan. It was built by the Lima Locomotive Works,
USA, in 1912 and donated to the railway in 1972.
