When the PBPS returned the train to operation between Belgrave and Menzies Creek in July 1962, the prospect of restoring the line right through to Gembrook was an impossible dream.  The rails beyond Lakeside had been lifted, the bridges were gone and Gembrook was just too far away in the distant hills.

Puffing Billy was back in action but 36 years were to pass before regular trains would run again to Gembrook.

In October 1962, John Thompson took his camera to Gembrook and found the old station slumbering with memories of better days.
